Hi! I’ve been reading your blog for some tme now. I stumbled across it back in December. I really enjoy the read. I was wondering if you could tell me some people in your life that have influenced you greatly. I don’t really mean teachers or anything. Are there people your age that really made a differnce? Maybe someone a little older? I’m a freshman in high school and there is a senior that I really look up to. Was there anyone in your life like that?

Hi Austin. Thanks for the reads and question! When I was in junior high their was a high school senior that I admired as well. She set a tremendous example on how to live a godly life throughout high school. There was also another that passed away when I was in the 4th grade that did the same as well. Her best advice to me was “Look To Jesus For Everything.” Other than that, sadly there wasn’t. I admired others for their faith and sticking to their beliefs but that was really it.
My advice to you is to continue to look up to that person but make sure that he/she is living a Christian life that is in accord with Scripture. Also realize that the person will fail from time to time because of our fallen humanity. Other than that Austin, continue to fight the good fight and enjoy your days in high school! Thanks again for your question and reading.

Great advice, Jason, about not anchoring ones’ self in ANY person, but in the Lord. I was just reading today in Bonhoeffer’s “Life Together”, where he emphasized that our bond to the church must be Jesus Christ, not any person’s power or influence. If there is not that link to Christ Himself, “this becomes evident as as soon as the demand is made that he throw himself into the cause itself, independently of the person to whom he is bound, or possibly in opposition to this person. Here is where the humanly converted person breaks down and thus makes it evident that his conversion was effected, not by the Holy Spirit, but by a man, and therefore has no stability.”
Grateful to see your good progress; keep it up!
